Dr. Sean Fitzsimmons graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University. He attended Tufts University medical school and graduated with honors. Dr. Fitzsimmons completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Mount Sinai Medical Center and his Sports Medicine fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital. During his fellowship, he worked with the New York Jets, New York Islanders, and various high school and college teams.

Dr. Fitzsimmons is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is the author of numerous scientific articles. Dr. Fitzsimmons has given talks and presented papers at medical educational conferences including the NFL Combine and Major League Soccer’s Annual Medical meeting.

Sports Injury Specialist

Dr. Fitzsimmons is the typical “weekend warrior” and plays in multiple flag football leagues. He also enjoys pickup soccer, basketball, hiking and running. He uses his personal knowledge of common injuries in these sports to help treat teammates and has established grassroots ties to provide medical care to the leagues in which he participates. He has been a member of the medical staff of the TCS New York City Marathon.

His other hobbies include traveling, scuba diving, and bird watching. Dr. Fitzsimmons is married and his wife is an avid runner who has completed three marathons.


Non-Operative Sports Medicine

Dr. Fitzsimmons focuses on non-operative care of orthopedic conditions. Many common orthopedic issues can be treated without surgery and he will refer you to the appropriate surgical specialist if needed.
